Humphrey St. Francis cruises to huge state title win
LINCOLN — Most football experts around the state knew Humphrey St. Francis had a good football team this year.
No one knew just how good the Fliers were, though.
Everyone found out Monday afternoon when Humphrey St, Francis hammered Pleasanton 70-16 in the D2 State football title game to complete a perfect 13-0 season.
It was the team’s second state title in five years.
The Fliers scored on nine of their 10 possessions.
Monday’s Memorial Stadium game was never close as Humphrey St. Francis put up 24 rst-quarter points, then matched that total in the second frame to take a 48-0 lead into the locker room.
Pleasanton was finally able to get its rst points on the board late in the third quarter.
The Fliers Trevor Pfeifer led the way with six touchdowns and three interceptions.
