HARTINGTON — Nearly five hundred students from the local Catholic schools gathered together for a day long retreat Feb. 28, including Holy Trinity Elementary, Cedar Catholic, East and West Catholic, Osmond St. Mary’s and St. Rose of Crofton. The retreat was titled Gaudium Et Specs, Latin for “Hopes and Joys of Our Times.”

The day began with the priests and students of the deanery celebrating Mass. Fr. Jim Keiter was the homilist and spoke about the Four Marks of the Church, highlighting “One Church.” He also stressed the importance of building bridges in our lives in regards to our relationships with others.

Following Mass, the students gathered at the Msgr. Werner Center. They were split into 38 groups. Each group was led by two Cedar Catholic students. Danny Leger, a youth minister and missionary, led the students in song throughout the day, and priests from the deanery gave talks.
