Holiday Lighting Contest is underway in Hartington

Posted in:

HARTINGTON - The Hartington Chamber of Commerce is holding another Holiday Lighting Contest.

During the weekend of the Candlelight Christmas celebration here in November, the Chamber sponsored a lighting contest for local businesses. Now, the Chamber is sponsoring a Holiday Lighting Contest for local homeowners. Area residents are encouraged to pick up ballots and maps at local businesses, such as Cedar County News, Steen Drug, Keiths, Stop and Go, Big Hair Brewhaus, Hartington Public Library, Hartington City O$ce and Kruse True Value, and then spend an evening touring the community to look at the Holiday lights.

The ballot lists 25 dierent homes in the community that have signed up to be in the contest.

Whichever home receives the most votes will win $50 in Chamber Bucks; second place receives $30 and third place receives $20. Additionally, the Chamber is giving out $10 in Chamber Bucks to every participating house in this year's contest.

Once all homes have been looked at, area residents can cast their votes for their favorite light display by dropping a ballot in the Hartington Public Library drop box located behind the library.

Area residents have until Dec. 17 to turn in their votes. The winners will be announced Dec. 19.

Uptown Charm won the business portion of the contest and received free membership dues for the 2023 year to the Hartington Chamber.
