HARTINGTON — Cedar Catholic’s Kirby Hochstein hit a big milestone at last week’s Pierce Invitational.

He also ended his day with a silver medal in the 132-pound weight class.

Hochstein started his day with a 7-0 win over Pierce’s Zach Meier. He then earned a 7-4 decision over Ryder Keenan of Logan View in his next match and a 3-2 decision over Blake Bolling of Pierce in the semifinals.

Hochstein ended up on his back late in the first period during a tough battle with Johnny Scarlett of Central City in the championship match.

Hochstein ended the day with a 9-4 season record.

In other action at Pierce, Cole Steffensen also competed in the 132-pound class. He earned a first-round bye, then lost a firstperiod pin in his next match to Johnny Scarlett of Central City. He ended up losing in the third period of his next match against a Logan-Magnolia, Iowa wrestler. Nash Albers competed in the 145-pound division. He also had a quick day, though, losing his first two matches.

Conner Hochstein started his day off with an 8-6 decision over Quad County Northeast’s Nolan Ohlrich in the 152-pound division.

He then lost by a technical fall to Logan-Magnolia’s Reisz, who went on to earn the gold. Hochstein bounced back to earn the fourthplace medal.
