HNS sees enrollment bump, while other county schools experience declines

HARTINGTON — Overall, school enrollment in Cedar County has continued to decline, but there are a few exceptions this year.

After Hartington-Newcastle saw a decline of 18 students from the 2016- 17 school year to the 2017-18 school year, the school rebounded with a 35 student increase for the 2018-19 school year.

The HNS preschool has 15 students, with Newcastle hosting an additional 13. Newcastle still is home to K-2 students, with a total enrollment of 10, while Hartington’s K-6 enrollment totals 186.
