HNS School Board gets an update on Vo-ag building

Posted in:

HARTINGTON — Construction of the new Hartington-Newcastle Vocational ag building has been delayed, but that project should be getting back on track next week. HNS Supt. A.J. Johnson told School Board members Monday that the metal building should be here next week. The building had been delayed by about a month, Johnson said. “All the parts should be arriving next week,” he said. Johnson said most of the prep work has already been done, so the building can begin to be assembled next week. All of the concrete, except for a small amount on the east side of the building has already been poured, he said. Also Monday, the Board approved the recently completed school audit. Board members also gave their approval to add two more people to their substitute teacher list. Abby Lammers, a 2016 HNS grad, was added to the list, as was Wayne State College student Nikki Hiller. The board moved its December meeting to Dec. 16, at 5:30 p.m. The school’s K-6 Christmas concert would have conflicted with a Dec. 9 Board meeting. That concert is slated to begin at 6 p.m. The school’s 7-12 Christmas concert is being held on Dec. 16, but that event is not set to begin until 7 p.m., so Board members felt it would not conflict with their meeting.
