Posted in:

HARTINGTON — The Hartington-Newcastle School Board approved a new contract Monday for Supt. A.J. Johnson and gave its approval to the 2020-21 school calendar.

Johnson’s new contract was unanimously approved after the Board met in executive session last month for his annual employee review.

The new contract calls for a $3,000 raise, bringing his annual salary to $121,000.

The newly approved calendar means the 2020-21 school year will begin Aug. 17.

Classes will be dismissed at noon May 19. Graduation is set for May 15, at 1 p.m.

The new calendar also calls for a 13-day Christmas vacation, beginning Dec. 23 and ending Jan. 4.

In other action, the Board approved Board Committee assignments for its eight standing committees.

There were no changes to any of the committee assignments.

The committees are: Transportation, Policies/Insurance, Buildings/Grounds, Athletics/Activities, Budget, Americanism, Vocational Ed, and Negotiations.

The next Hartington-Newcastle School Board meeting is set for March 9, at 5:30 p.m.
