HNS girls flex defensive muscles to defeat Wausa

Posted in:

WAUSA — The Hartington Lady Wildcats handed the Wausa Lady Vikings a late season setback Tuesday.

The Lady Vikes were defeated, 52-37, by HNS.

HNS pulled ahead, 14-8, after the first frame, but Wausa regrouped in the second frame to outscore the visiting Lady Wildcats 16-10 and tie the game, 24-24, at the halftime break.

The HNS defense stiffened in the second half, as the Vikes were only able to drop in 13 more points, while the HNS offense hit for 28 to earn the 15-point win.

Abbe Morten led the team to the win.

Coach Josh Morten said his team looked pretty good in the second half against Wausa.

“Offensively, we played pretty well. We just did a poor job defending the banked 3-pointers. The second half, we were able to defend that much better. We all around played much better the second half defensively, holding them to 13 total points in the half.”
