Helen Marie (Hansen) Kumm

OSMOND — Funeral services for Helen Marie (Hansen) Kumm, 94, of Osmond were, July 9, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Osmond. Rev. Glen Emery officiated.

Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Osmond.

Pallbearers were Brian Kumm, Gregg Kumm, Aaron Schlote, Neil Clausen, Brent Clausen and Daniel Kumm.

Visitation was July 8 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Osmond.

Helen died July 4, 2019, at the Plainview Manor.

Helen Marie was born Dec. 17, 1924, on a farm near Newcastle, to Albert and Ida Hansen. She was baptized Aug. 16, 1925, and confirmed in 1944 at Eden Valley Church, Plainview. She graduated from Laurel High School. She married Norman Willis Kumm March 5, 1944, in the country church parsonage at Eden Valley Church. Norman and Helen had four children, Paul, Alan, Nancy and Debra. Norman and Helen lived on a farm northwest of Osmond for 44 years before retiring and moving into their home in Osmond.

Helen was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and active in several organizations, including Ladies Aid and the Ladies Quilting Group. Helen loved to quilt and made many quilts for her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #326 and spent many hours at the Senior Center helping with meals, playing cards and visiting. Helen loved her flowers and spending time with family and her grandchildren. When she was younger, Norman and she loved to dance, and she belonged to a ladies bowling team.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse, Norman; her brothers, Howard and Dick “Ore” Hansen; sister, Dorothy French; a son, Alan; a daughter, Debra; a daughter-in-law, Carol Kumm; and sons-in-law, Mike Clausen and Roger Buss.

She is survived by a son, Paul Kumm, Osmond; a daughter, Nancy Schlote and husband Bruce, Plainview; a sister Tootie (Glendora) Lipp, Laurel; grandchildren, Brian Kumm, Norfolk; Gregg Kumm, Osmond; Tracy Cook, Nixa, Mo.; Alisa Brunsing, West Point; Aaron Schlote, Omaha; Kim Chilvers, Omaha; Neil Clausen, Wausa; Brent Clausen, Bennington; and Kendra Suhr, Wausa; 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
