Hartington Titan football team is ready for the playoffs

HARTINGTON — The Hartington Titan youth football team will play Stanton Monday at Wayne State College for the Elkhorn Valley League title.

The local team once again put together a solid season, putting together an undefeated season.

Last year both the fifth and sixth grade teams went undefeated and won their respective championships.

This year Hartington only has a sixth grade division due to lack ofother towns team numbers. The team is actually comprised of 4-6 grade students.

Hartington opened the season beating Wayne 28-0 and then beat Stanton 30-12, before beating BRLD 46-0.

Last weekend Hartington defeated Ponca 36-6 to advance to the championship game.

Brady Hochstein was the team’s leading rusher this year with 400 yards on 31 carries. As a team, the Hartington squad rushed for 1,217 yards this season.

Aaron Wortmann led the team in receiving through three games with 33 yards and one touchdown. Quinn Hochstein and Nolan Heimes weren’t far behind. Hochstein had a 20-yard catch, while Heimes had a 19-yard catch.

Mason Baller had the most success throwing the ball, completing 5-12 for 58 yards.

Breiton Whitmire and Brady Hochstein were the leading tacklers in the first three games with 17 tackles each.

Will Steffen, Bodie Hochstein, Maverick Heine, and Emerson Guenther each had nine tackles.

Hartington has enough players for two teams, as the roster boasts 40 boys this season. The team is coached by Jesse Hochstein and assisted by, Judd Keiser, Matt Steffen, Cale Haberer, Brandon Baller,Lee Heimes,Nathan Rutar, Craig Wortmann, Chris Collier and Kyle Hochstein.
