Posted in:

HARTINGTON — Hartington fell behind early, but started to rally against BDS before Mother Nature got in the way Sunday. When the fields dried out and the game resumed Monday, Hartington again put together a rally, but it ended up being one run short, as BDS dropped Hartington into the loser’s bracket with an 8-7 setback. Hartington plated one run in its first at bat Sunday, Brady Steffen lined a lead-off single through the infield, then moved to second base on a stolen base. He scored on Chase Lammers’ single. BDS plated two runs in their half of the inning to take a 2-1 lead. Hartington knotted the game at 2-2 in the third inning after Seth Wiebelhaus singled and stole second, then came home on a Turner Korth single. BDS regained the lead in their half of the frame, putting up three runs to lead 5-2. Hartington made it 5-3 when Brady Steffen scored in the fourth frame, but BDS plated two more to make it 7-3 after four innings. Both teams scored lone runs in the fifth, but no one was able to score again until Hartington plated three in their sixth-inning comeback attempt. The rally wasn’t enough, though, as BDS hung on to claim the victory.
