Hartington-Newcastle teachers undergo training in new COVID world

Posted in:

HARTINGTON — Hartington-Newcastle Elementary teachers recently received training to better meet the social and emotional needs of their students. Social and emotional learning is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.

People with strong social-emotional skills are better able to cope with everyday challenges and benefit academically, professionally, and socially.

From effective problem-solving to self-discipline, from impulse control to emotion management and more, SEL provides a foundation for positive, long-term effects on kids, adults, and communities. Children thrive. Schools win. Workplaces benefit. Society strengthens. All due to socialemotional learning.

The training was provided by National Distinguished Elementary Principal Don Ortman, ambassador for Sanford Harmony.

Sanford Harmony materials and training are provided at no cost. For more information, help and support contact the Ambassador for Sanford Harmony, Don Ortman at dortman@.nu.edu.
