Hartington Dayz; return of lighting contests were 2022 Chamber highlights

Posted in:

HARTINGTON — A new community event and the return of an old one were two of the Hartington Chamber of Commerce’s biggest successes in 2022.

Chamber President Karen Flamig said the Chamber Board started talking about putting on some kind of summer celebration at its February meeting last year. Things just kind of took off from there and Hartington Dayz was born.

“From that time of brain storming, we put together the first Hartington Dayz,” she said.

The August event featured a vendor show/farmers market, citywide garage sales, a Kid Zone, a golf tourney, food trucks and a street dance featuring “Quazy.”

“We had many volunteers to help put this event together and make it a success,” Flamig said.

Hartington Dayz 2023 will be Aug. 12, with a street dance featuring “The Hipsters.”

Business and community lighting contests were also held this year. The last time community-wide contests like this were held was in the early 1990s.

The event had 25 home owners participating in the constest, which was then judged by community members.
