HNS will buy new bus with grant funds
HARTINGTON - The Hartington-Newcastle school budget got a big shot in the arm this month.
HNS Supt. A.J. Johnson said the school received a $40,000 grant - enough to pay half the cost of a new school bus.
In July, the HNS Board voted to purchase a new $80,875 2019 bus from Husker International of Lincoln. This will allow the school to take a back-up bus off the road.
The school last purchased a bus two summers ago. Johnson said they will be getting rid of both the 1997 and 1999 busses. The 1997 bus has over 200,000 miles on it and the 1999 bus is close th that mark Johnson said.
