Gotch receives prestigious Neihardt Scholarship

WAYNE — Kennedy Gotch, a senior at Hartington-Newcastle High School, is the recipient of the Neihardt Scholarship at Wayne State College, beginning fall 2024.

This scholarship, named in honor of the late John G. Neihardt, a WSC graduate and poet laureate of Nebraska, is in recognition of her outstanding academic achievements and the quality of her scholarship application.

The Neihardt Scholarship includes a full tuition award, up to 18 credit hours per semester for four years, provided the recipient maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or better.

The scholarship also provides the full cost of housing at the standard lowest residence hall rate for eight semesters and an annual stipend of $500.

This award is the equivalent of $46,000.

Wayne State College will host a formal recognition event in Gotch’s honor later this spring.
