Gerald was born in Cedar County April 25, 1951, to Fay and Erna (Vogt) Bobenmoyer. He attended country school on the hill next to the farm house. Gerald attended school there until seventh grade, when he had to begin school in Coleridge. Gerald graduated from Coleridge Public Schools and then attended University Nebraska, Curtis, where he obtained a degree in diesel mechanics. Gerald returned home to the farm where he’d lived his entire life. Gerald started farming at a young age with his dad. He farmed all his life and raised cattle.

Gerald married Betsy Hamilton Aug. 17, 1997, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Randolph. To this union came Elizabeth (Bobenmoyer) Guerrisky, chosen by Gerald to be his daughter through adoption. Born to this union was Jarrett Fay Bobenmoyer to complete this family. Though the marriage ended in 2007, Gerald and Betsy remained friends.

Gerald enjoyed square dancing, tractor pulling with friends, Nascar races, hunting and fishing, farming, welding and his kids and family. Some of Gerald’s favorite memories were receiving the 100-year Farm Award from Ak-Sar-Ben, and taking Elizabeth to the sale barn and around town when she was younger. Gerald was proud that Elizabeth was in the United States Air Force. Gerald was proud when Jarrett was born. He enjoyed watching the kids grow up and graduate, teaching Jarrett to hunt and fish, going prairie dog hunting, and fishing in the Newcastle area.

Survivors include friend and mother of his children, Betsy Bobenmoyer, Fort Pierce, Fla.; Elizabeth (Bobenmoyer) Guerrisky, Charleston, S.C.; Jarrett Fay Bobenmoyer, Randolph; and his sister, Joan Falke, Scribner.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents Fay A. and Erna Johanna (Vogt) Bobenmoyer, Coleridge.
