Garry D. Geer Sr.

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa — Beloved husband and father, Garry D. Geer Sr., surrounded by his family, died June 8, 2022.

Garry was born in Macedonia, Iowa, June 17, 1940, to Ralph and Edith (Cook) Geer. He was on the Rifle Team at Abraham Lincoln High School, where he graduated in 1958. Over the years, he and the members of the Rifle Team would meet for a reunion and remained close.

In 1964, he married the love of his life, LaCinda Stevens, in Council Bluffs. They were blessed with two children, Garry Jr. and Virginia. Garry worked in the housing industry, which took the family to Oregon, Wisconsin, Texas and settling back to the Midwest in Laurel, where he retired from Heritage Homes in 2015. He and Cindy moved to Persia, Iowa, in 2021 to be closer to family.

Garry was an avid trap and skeet shooter, which took him to multiple competitions and trips to the Nebraska State Games which awarded him top accolades.

Garry was preceded in death by his father and mother; brother, Gene Geer; and nephew, Tim Geer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Cindy, Persia, Iowa; son, Pastor Garry (Joy) Geer, Peoria, Ill.; daughter, Virginia Lockard, Council Bluffs, Iowa; grandsons, Nicholas Lockard and Garrison Geer; granddaughters, Bethany (Matt) Willis, Miranda (George) Terry and Delaney Geer; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Janice Brown, Ft Myers, Fla., and Loretta Ethridge, Jacksonville, Fla.; nieces, and nephews.
