CROFTON — Fredrick A. Arens, 80, Crofton, died Nov. 27, 2018, at the Hartington Care and Rehabilitation Center, Hartington. Visitation will be on Wednesday one hour prior to services at church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Dec. 5, 2018, at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Constance, with the Rev. Jim Keiter officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Constance. Pallbearers will be Dale Van Heek, John Van Heek, Gary Schumacher, Jeff Steffen, Ron Tramp and Gerald Arens. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Crofton. Fredrick Alphonse Arens was born Nov. 18, 1938, in Crofton, to Fred Peter and Anna Margaret (Jansen) Arens. He grew up on a farm near Crofton and graduated from Crofton High School. Fred lived his entire life with his brother, Melvin. He farmed with Melvin and did a lot of work on farm machinery. Fred and Melvin started a woodworking and cabinet company called M & F Woodworking in 1995. Fred and his brother reconstructed the three altars in the Constance church. This extensive project took over 20 months to complete. Fredrick is survived by his sister, JoAnn, and husband, Fred Janssen, Arvada, Colo.; nieces, Linda (Greg) Dean, Arvada, Colo., and Caroline and Kathy, California; and nephew, Fredrick J. Arens, Los Angeles, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Anna Arens; and two brothers, Alfred and Melvin Arens.
