Four Trojans earn All-District football honors; seven tabbed honorable mention

NORFOLK — Four Cedar Catholic Trojans were named to the C2-4 All-District Football Team by the district coaches.

In addition to the four named All-District, seven teammates were named on the honorable mention list.

Ty Thoene was the lone Cedar Catholic senior selected to the first team.

His three teammates chosen; Jaymison Cattau, Braeden Reifenrath and Ryan Pick are all juniors.

Thoene roamed the defensive backfield for the Trojans and was one of the top tacklers on the team in his final campaign on the grid iron.

Cattau was the leading receiver for Cedar Catholic and was a stopper at defensive end, leading the team in sacks.

Reifenrath was “Mr. Offense” for head coach Chad Cattau and the Trojans, leading the team in passing and was more than adequate in the run game. He also helped Thoene patrol the defensive backfield.

Pick was one of the anchors in the interior line on both sides of the ball.

The good news about the seven honorable mention members for the Trojans, all but one of them will be back next season.

Karsan Albers was named honorable mention and has played his final down for the Trojans, but Nolan Becker, Matthew Loecker, Brady Hochstein, Jacob Steffen, Hunter Bensen and Breiton Whitmire all return.

In fact, Bensen is a freshman, Whitmire and Hochstein are sophomores while Becker, Loecker and Steffen are all juniors.

Norfolk Catholic, the district and state champions, had six players on the first team.

Battle Creek the district runner-up had five, Ponca had three and West Holt was represented by two players.
