Flooding causes evacuation order in Randolph

Posted in:

RANDOLPH — Flooding in Randolph has led to an evacuation order for residents in low-lyiing areas of the community.

Over two inches of rain has fallen here since midniight Tuesday with no let-up in sight.

Kevin Garvin, Emergency Management Director for Cedar County said residents affected are those people living along Hughson, Wayne, Park and Waldon streets in Randolph. Other low-lying areas of town may also affected, he said.

Residents who evacuate are being asked to report to the Randolph City Auditorium.

There have been multiple reports of water over the roadway in several areas around Cedar County, both on state highways and on county roads.

Garvin advised residents to  drive with caution.

"Slow down and use caution if you are travelling today," he said.

Several area schools let classes out early, but busses will only travel on roads they can travel on safely.
