Fintan J. Hoesing

NEWCASTLE — Fintan J. Hoesing, 91, Newcastle, died Nov. 19, 2022 at the Arbor Care Center, Hartington, under Hospice care, with his wife, Mary Jane, at his side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Nov. 28, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Newcastle, with the Rev. Andy

Sohm and Rev. Ken Hoesing ociating.

Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Newcastle. Pallbearers will be Dwight Wudell, Je# Burbach, Andrew Hoesing, Finton Hoesing

Matthew Hoesing, Rodney Hoesing and Clair Hoesing. Honorary pallbearers will be Audrey Kyncl, Melinda Burbach, Rachel Wudell and Lindsey Hoesing. Visitation will be Monday, at church, from 10 a.m. until service time. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.

Fintan John Hoesing was born May 16, 1931, in Hartington, to Peter and Helen (Wieseler) Hoesing. He attended Maskell School before the family moved closer to Newcastle. He graduated from Newcastle High School in 1949. Following graduation, he worked for his father. He met and soon married the love of his life, Mary Jane Schulte, Jan. 30, 1952, in Bow Valley. Soon after their marriage, they purchased a farm and started building their lives and family together. Fintan farmed his entire life, until a stroke forced him to cut back.

Fintan enjoyed collecting chain saws and the challenge of fixing and repairing old equipment, along with improving current farm equipment. He used to fish and go deer and duck hunting.

Fintan is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Jane, Newcastle; six children, Leonard Hoesing, Newcastle; Larry Hoesing, Creighton; daughter, Donna Hoesing, Yankton, S.D.; Arthur (Julie) Hoesing, Yankton, S.D.; Alfred (Monika) Hoesing, Maskell; Elmer (Jane) Hoesing, Coleridge; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Fintan was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Bernard; a grandson, Jerome Hoesing; four brothers and spouses, Rudolph (Frances) Hoesing, Harold (Joyce) Hoesing, Orville (Dorothy) Hoesing and James (Barbara) Hoesing.

In lieu of flowers memorials should be directed to the charity of your

choice.
