FFA students earn degrees

Posted in:

HARTINGTON — “I believe in the future of agriculture, with a faith born not of words but of deeds - achievements won by the present and past generations of agriculturalists.”

These are the words of the FFA Creed heard by all those who attended the Hartington-Newcastle FFA Degree Night Ceremonies Nov. 21.

At this event, many members of the chapter received recognition for their time and accomplishments in FFA. The new members received their Greenhand Degree, which requires sufficient knowledge of the organization as well as plans for a Supervised Agricultural Experience. These members also received their FFA jacket at the ceremony.

The second year members received the Chapter Degree, which requires that they have received the Greenhand Degree, put sufficient time into their SAE and be enrolled in agricultural education. Also recognized at the ceremony were the State Degree recipients who received their degrees at the Nebraska State FFA Convention last spring. The students are now preparing for the upcoming Leadership Development Events held Dec. 11. These events are focused on developing college and career readiness skills. The Hartington-Newcastle FFA Chapter will be sending many students to this event. Students are working hard as they prep for the competition date.
