Butch died Oct. 24, 2023, at the Pacifica Senior Living Center, Riverside, Calif., due to Parkinson’s complications.

Stonacek Funeral Chapel, Randolph, is in charge of the arrangements. Butch was born Dec. 26, 1941, to Frank and Violetta (Kavelage) Reineke at the family farm located near McLean, and was the fourth in the family of 10 siblings. He attended McLean Elementary School and graduated from St. Frances de Chantal Catholic School in 1960. In 1960, Butch joined the National Guard and served six months active duty at Fort Leonardwood, Kan., and Fort Dix, N.J. After discharge, he served in the National Guard Reserve units in Wayne and Yankton, S.D., until 1968.

Butch and Dinah Langemeier were married Aug. 4, 1962, at St. Frances, Randolph. They had four children, LaVonne, James, Julie and Camille.

Butch is survived by his wife, Dinah; four children, 15 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Butch was employed by Wagner Seed and Fertilizer, Hartington, and also farmed for several years in the Cedar and Knox county area. In 1971, after a farm sale, he joined Farmers Coop, Oakland, as fertilizer manager. During his tenure in Oakland, he graduated from the Farmland Industries Management Training Program in Minneapolis. In his professional career, Butch was manager of the Farmers Coops, Waverly and Richland. In 1990, Butch joined Farmers Commodity Corporation, Omaha, and attained his Commodities Broker license and remained with FCC until his retirement in 2008. After retirement, he moved to Randolph and for two years assisted in the management of Tri-County grain after the unexpected death of his good friend, Allen Burbach.

In 2014, Butch and Dinah moved to Corona, Calif., to enjoy the sun and activities of their California grandkids.

Through his life, Butch remained a farmer at heart, and though he had relocated to California, he made sure to make a trip back to Nebraska each spring and in the fall for harvest. He was known as the “numbers” man and the king of spreadsheets to his kids and grandkids, who never hesitated to go to him with their questions.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the St. Frances Catholic Church, Randolph.
