Emma Hirschman

MILLARD — Emma Hirschman, 98, Millard, formerly of Coleridge, died May 9, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Society, Millard.

A public viewing was held one hour prior to services Thursday, at the church.

Mass of Christian Burial was May 14 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Coleridge, with Rev. Owen Korte officiating. Services were limited to 50 people with proper face coverings required.

Burial was in the St. Michael’s Cemetery. Coleridge. Pallbearers were Mike and Mary Pat Baier, Mitch and Kelly Baier, and Amy and Adam Bisenius.

Honorary pallbearers were Nicole Tabor, Karen Vancura, Zachary Baier, Morgan Baier, McKenzie Baier, Madison Baier, Kelsey Baier, Brody Bisenius, Brock Bisenius and Brayden Bisenius.

Emma was born Nov. 21, 1921, in Hartington, to William and Agatha (Berg) Pick. She grew up in the Coleridge area and graduated from Holy Trinity High School. Emma married Homer H. Hirschman June 11, 1940. They were married for 55 years when Homer died in 1995. Emma lived the majority of her life in the Coleridge area. She was a caregiver for several years and she also worked as a bookkeeper for various local businesses.

Emma enjoyed playing cards, embroidering, playing bingo, line dancing at the nursing home, and spending time with her family.

Emma is survived by a daughter, Margaret (Gene) Baier, Millard,; son, Tom (Susan) Hirschman, Holstein, Iowa; grandchildren, Mike (Mary Pat) Baier, Mitch (Kelly) Baier, Amy (Adam) Bisenius; great-grandchildren, Nicole Tabor, Karen Vancura, Zachary Baier, Morgan Baier, McKenzie Baier, Madison Baier, Kelsey Baier, Brody Bisenius, Brock Bisenius, Brayden Bisenius; two great-great-grandchildren, Kamery Vancura and Blake Tabor; sister-in-law, Virginia Pick; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Homer, Oct. 9, 1995; five brothers and two sisters.
