BELDEN — Edward H. Keifer, 73, Belden, died Sept. 8, 2022, at Faith Regional Health Services, Norfolk. Funeral services were held Sept. 13 at the Union Presbyterian Church, Belden, with the Rev. Charity Potter officiating. Burial was at the Belden Cemetery, Belden. Visitation was Monday, at the church, and continued Tuesday one hour prior to services. Pallbearers were Andrew Krei, Greg Clocker, Ryan Clocker, Tyler Harder, Michael Rotherham and Derek Retzlaff. Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. Edward Herman was born Oct. 7, 1948, to Edward Joseph and Irene Emily (Beuck) Keifer in Laurel. He attended Belden Public School and graduated from Belden High School in 1966. He attended Wayne State College and graduated in December 1971 with a double major in business administration and chemistry. Ed started farming in 1971 and was in a farming accident in November 1971. While being treated for his injuries, he met his future wife, as Kathie Ann Lind was his nurse. Ed and Kathie were married Oct. 14, 1972. Kathie helped Ed with farming and continued with her nursing career. They spent the remainder of their married life on the farm. Ed and Kathie had three children, Anne, Mark and Matt. They were blessed with two grandchildren, Gus and Ellie Keifer, and four step-grandchildren, Aeden Ottis, Chase Swanson, Patric Essig and Emma Eickhoff.

Ed enjoyed the farming life very much. He loved to go to cattle sales, drive red tractors, watch his crops come up and grow and work alongside his boys. He looked forward to any time he could spend with his grandchildren, as they were the light of his life. He had a good sense of humor and loved making people laugh. He was known by neighbors as the one to call when they needed a hand. Eddie enjoyed having kids come to the farm to ride horses, feed baby calves and ride tractors.

He belonged to the Union Presbyterian Church in Belden. Ed is survived by his wife, Kathie, Belden; three children, Anne (Eric) Swanson, Norfolk; Mark (Julia) Keifer, Belden; Matt (Nichole) Keifer, Belden; two grandchildren, Gus and Ellie Keifer; four step-grandchildren; three siblings, Louanne (Gene) Cook, Lincoln; Lorene (Dennis) Krei, Waverly; Kerry (Jeanne) Keifer, Belden; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
