CARROLL — Dorothy Isom, 89, Carroll, died May 9, 2020, at her home in Carroll.

There will be a private family visitation at Hasemann Funeral Home, Wayne.

Private Family Christian services will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Carroll, with Rev. William Engebretsen officiating.

Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Carroll.

Pallbearers will be Mark Tietz, Brent Tietz, Bob McElroy, Cody Backer, Shaw Backer and Christian Moore Dorothy Luetta Isom was born Dec. 27, 1930, on a farm near Concord, to William and Meta (Rieth) Stalling. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, east of Concord. She graduated from Concord High School in 1948, and the Beauty School in Norfolk. She was employed at Hazel’s Beauty Shop, Wayne, for 10 years. Dorothy married Marvin Isom Feb. 26, 1955, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Concord. They farmed near Carroll most of their married life.

Dorothy worked as a teacher’s aide at the Carroll Elementary School for 20 years. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Carroll. Dorothy enjoyed reading and embroidering, the Cubs, but most of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Joni (Mark) Tietz, Carroll; Jodi Isom, Lincoln; Janee Isom, Lincoln; and Jennifer (Cody) Backer, Randolph; grandchildren, Brent (Rachel) Tietz, Norfolk; Lyndi (Bob) McElroy, Carroll; Christian Moore, St. Louis, Mo.; Shaw Backer and Jessa Backer, Randolph; great-grandchildren, Carleigh and Bennett Tietz, Norfolk; Finn, Iain and Emmy Luetta McElroy, Carroll; two brothers, Clifford (Donna) Stalling, Norfolk, and Clayton (Jan) Stalling, Vermillion, S.D.; sister-in-law, Gale Stalling, Ovieda, Fla.; nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin, in 1974; brother, Richard Stalling, in 2016.

Memorials may be directed to Dorothy’s family for later designation.
