Donovan Duane Hahne

COLERIDGE — Donovan Duane Hahne, 87, Coleridge, died on Dec. 30, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa, after suffering a stroke.

Visitation and a prayer service were held at the church Jan. 2, and continued Wednesday, one hour prior to services at church.

Funeral services were Jan. 3 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Coleridge, with the Rev. Russ Lambert officiating.

Burial was at Lawnridge Cemetery, Coleridge.

Pallbearers were his grandsons, Andy Hahne, Todd Hahne, Matt Hahne, Nate Hahne, Caleb Hahne, Mike Frerichs, Adam Hurley and Mason Hahne.

Honorary pallbearers were his granddaughters, Janet Gillespie, Patti Cook, Michelle Seagren, Leah Schaller, Jessica Peters, Christa Hurley and Lauren Hahne.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Coleridge.

Donovan Duane Hahne was born Jan. 24, 1930, in Coleridge, to Alvin F. and Ella D. (Janssen) Hahne. He grew up in the Coleridge area and married Marilyn Jean Hefner Oct. 11, 1951, in Coleridge. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, 1951-1953. Donovan and Marilyn were blessed with five children. Don enjoyed his horses and attending parades with his horse and wagon. He liked tractor drives, playing cards and especially attending his children and grandchildren’s activities for over 53 years. Don was a lifetime farmer and was a member of the Hartington VFW Post #5283 and Immanuel Lutheran Church, Coleridge.

Don is survived by his five children and spouses, Roger Hahne, Coleridge; Sandy and Dave Frerichs, Coleridge; Kevin and Rebecca Hahne, Norfolk; Sharon and Joe Hurley, Sioux Falls, S.D.; and Doug and Mary Hahne, Hartington; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; a brother, Wendell Hahne, Norfolk; a sister, Marva Lee Felber, Newman Grove; brother-in-law, Ron and wife, Linda Hefner, Ft. Collins, Colo.; and sister-in-law, Carol Barber, Denver, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marilyn, July 12, 2014, at the age of 81; and a sister-in-law, Delores Hahne.
