LAUREL — Dean Jones Sr.,77, Laurel, died Feb. 26, 2022, at his residence in Laurel.

Visitation will be Thursday one hour prior to services at church.

Funeral services will be March 3, at 10:30 a.m., at the United Lutheran Church, Laurel, with the Rev. Matthew Quanbeck officiating.

Burial will be at the Laurel cemetery, Laurel.

Pallbearers will be Dean’s nephews, Harold Jones, Curtis Jones, Mike Jones, Gerele Jones, Larry Jensen, Roger Jensen, Chad Jones, Dusty Swisher, Dillon Jones and Dallas Broders.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grand children, Justin Jones, Brandon Jones, Alex Jones, Dylan Jones, Hunter Jones, Christopher Jones and Ella Jones.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Laurel.

Dean was born Feb. 13, 1945, in Laurel, to Eli and Lela (Dowling) Jones. He grew up in Laurel and attended elementary and high school in Laurel. He began driving a truck for his dad at Jones Trucking. Dean then worked for Harold White Feed Store grinding and delivering feed. His last employment was at John Deere in Laurel, for 20 years, as a machinery assembler and setup person.

Dean married Sharon Kay Anderson Dec. 18, 1966, in Laurel, at the United Lutheran Church.

Dean was a member of the United Lutheran Church, Laurel. He loved woodworking, building toys, piggy banks and giving them away to many children. Dean also liked attending his sons’ and grandchildren’s activities, especially track and field events. He loved to take trips to Branson, Mo., and the Black Hills.

Dean is survived by his wife, Sharon; two sons, Jason (Stacy) Jones, Norfolk, and Matt (Starr) Jones, Norfolk, Va.; seven grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, Christopher, Ella, Alex, Dylan,and Hunter; two sisters, Marilyn Jensen, Laurel, and Alice Roberts, Wayne; three brothers, Leonard (Jeannie) Jones, Wayne; Terry Jones and special friend, Sherry, Denver, Colo.; and Tom (Cindy) Jones, Loveland, Colo.; and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Jones and Doris Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Lela Jones; son, Dean Jr.; four brothers, Dwayne, Richard, Harold and Sam Jones; and sister, Karen Jones.
