Daniel Ignatius Bruening

ST. HELENA — Daniel Ignatius Bruening, 83, St. Helena, died Aug. 31, 2019, at the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D.

Visitation was one hour prior to services.

Mass of Christian Burial was Sept. 3 at Holy Family (Immaculate Conception) Catholic Church, St. Helena, with Rev. Andy Phan officiating.

Burial was in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, St. Helena. The Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington, was assisting with the arrangements.

Honorary Pallbearers were Allen Kluthe, Dick Hochstein, Jerome Stratman, Mike Hans, Mark Hans, Claude Pinkelman, Matt Weinandt, Randy Bruening, Brian Hochstein, Loren Bender, Robert Bender, David Bruening, Lonnie Hegge and Lester Hegge

Active Pallbearers were Dennis Bruening, Michael Bruening, Ken Bruening, Joe Bruening, Ed Bruening and Steve Bruening.

Daniel was born April 11, 1936, at home in rural St. Helena. He attended District 4 School and lived and farmed his whole life on the family homestead. He also did custom combining and bailing for a number of years.

Daniel was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Helena. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends.

Daniel is survived by two brothers and six sisters, Charleen Becker, Crystal Lake, Minn.; Germaine Becker, Hartington; Betty and Willie Lund, Blair; Kathleen Tideman, Hastings; Marion Haberman, Springfield; Karen and Dean Meyer, Norfolk; Gayle and Jan Bruening, Madison, Miss.; Clayton and Lynette Bruening, Yankton, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Ethel Rothluebber; and brothers-in-law, Florenz “Molly” Becker, Don Becker, Tom Tideman and Larry Haberman.
