Cut line causes phone outage

Posted in:

HARTINGTON - A cut fiber optic line in southern Cedar County has caused an outage with some long distance and 911 calls.

Cedar County Emergency Services Director Kevin Garvin said where possible 911 calls are being rerouted to neighboring 911 centers.

Garvin said he was not sure how many communities were affected, besides Laurel.

Garvin said if people get a busy signal when trying to call 911 or the non-emergency line for law enforcement, they should call Dixon County at 402-755-5608, or Knox County at 402-288-4261 or Wayne County at 402-375-2626.

Repair crews have been dispatched to fix the problem.
