Curtain comes down on Cedar County Fair entertainment

Posted in:

HARTINGTON — This year’s Cedar County Fair will be a bare bone affair.

The Cedar County Ag Society announced this week they will not have entertainment at this year’s Fair.

“After careful consideration with our Ag Society Board, local agencies, Neb. Health Department, and everyone in our industry – our patrons, fans, supporters, exhibitors, and longtime associates and advisors – we have made the difficult decision to postpone the entertainment events for the 2020 Cedar County Fair,” Ag Society members said through a press release.

Board members said the decision was made because of continued concerns surrounding COVID-19.

“We as a board felt it was in the best interest of our community, county, and beyond to help mitigate this global situation and aid in returning our communities to normal as soon as possible,” the release said. “This was not an easy decision and we believe we have explored all the possible options, but in the end we agreed it is the right decision based on the information we have at this time.

Anyone that had purchased tickets for one of the headline events will be able to get a refund.

The Fair will still be held, but will only feature 4-H/FFA shows.

Board members said they hope life is back to normal for next year’s Fair, which will be July 14 –18, 2021.
