Curtain about to go up on Cedar County Theatre production

Posted in:

HARTINGTON — The stage is set, the lights are on, and the mics are hot at the City Auditorium for Cedar County Theatre’s annual play production. This year’s play “Doublewide, Texas” runs from April 19-22. The play is directed by Sheila Olsen. It is her third time directing for the Cedar County Theatre. All three have been comedies, with Olsen directing “Drinking Habits” and “Grandma’s Naughty Knickers” in years past. She thinks this year’s cast is special. “This cast really works well together,” said Olsen.

“We have a good time.” Olsen said she reads her scripts with certain people in mind for casting, which she admits can be good or bad. Luckily, Olsen was able to get who she had in mind. “I don’t know if I would have been as into this play if I couldn’t have gotten Troy Bottolfsen,” said Olsen. “He is really what kind of sold me on this script.” Bottolfsen is part of an eight-person cast, including Aubrey Freeman, Michelle Koch, Deb Addison, Maggie Fleming, Clay Kleinschmit, Gary Burns, Brooke Kleinschmit and Amber Collier. Olsen says this cast meshes really well together for multiple reasons.
