Crofton edges Ponca in Area Tny opener

HARTINGTON — After a rough sixth inning which saw Ponca plate four runs to make it a 5-5 tie,  Crofton bounced back in their half of the frame to earn the go-ahead run, then held on to to earn a 6-5 win in first-round action of the C1 Area American Legion Senior baseball tournament here in Friday’s tournament opener.

Crofton’s win pushed them into a second-round game with the winner of the Hartington-Randolph game.

Landon Wieseler started on the mound for Crofton, but Justin Potts came on in relief to earn the win.

Ponca’s Caydon Phillips suffered the loss.
