Cozetta M. Rohan

NEWCASTLE — Cozetta M. Rohan, 101, Newcastle, passed away June 27, 2018, at her residence, while surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., July 3, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Newcastle. Visitation, with the rosary and a scriptural wake service, were July 2 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home, Ponca.
Cozetta, “the little Murray girl with the curls” was born Nov. 23, 1916, in Newcastle, to Michael and Elizabeth (Donahoe) Murray. She attended grade school in Newcastle; high school at Sacred Heart School, Emerson, graduating in 1934; and attended College of St. Teresa, Winona, Minn., graduating with a B.A. degree in 1938. She was a teacher in Wynot Schools and a substitute teacher in Newcastle. Cozetta and Louis Rohan were married June 17, 1941, in St. Peter’s Catholic Church. They were blessed with 11 children.
Cozetta was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Newcastle; a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 62 Newcastle; the Sacred Heart Sodality;and past president of the St. Patrick’s of Tara Hill Altar Society. She assisted with the “Over 60’s” organization.
Cozetta enjoyed spending time with her family, and loved to attend her grade school, high school and college reunions. She loved traveling. She wrote the Newcastle news for the Ponca paper. She was an avid reader and she truly loved attending and listening to all sporting events
Survivors include her children, Timothy (Ardyth) Rohan, Newcastle; Mary Roha, Omaha; Patrick Rohan (Terri Harvey), Plymouth, Calif.; Terrence (Bonnie) Rohan, Newcastle; Bernard Rohan, Newcastle; Cecilia Rohan, Omaha; Anthony (Joyce) Rohan, Seward; Ellen (Marvin) Becker, Yankton, S.D.; and Leo (Kim) Rohan, Emerson; son-in-law, Talmage Newton III, St. Louis, Mo.: 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and she was anticipating the birth of two new great-grandchildren this fall; and a niece, Mary Ann (Murray) Smith, Satellite Beach, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Rohan; children, Thomas Rohan and Sara Newton; parents, Michael and Elizabeth Murray; brothers, Michael, Thomas William (Helen); sisters, Mamie
