Council approves land plat clearing the way for any future projects

Posted in:

HARTINGTON — The Hartington City Council Monday approved a plat of some land adjacent to the old cheese plant west of Hartington.

The property, which now houses Pomps Tires, was split up so future development can potentially take place on a 1.7 acre of land north and east of the present Pomps building.

Cedar County officials have talked to Pomps and the city of Hartington about potentially constructing a facility for the Cedar County Transit System on the site,

No decision on the potential transit facility has been made as of yet, but the re-plat is the first step in the process in case the county decides to move forward.

The Cedar County Transit system is a transportation service provided by Cedar County for its residents that is available for the general public, including persons with disabilities who reside in Cedar County.

Currently, the County Transit System rents the old ambulance bay space at the Hartington City Hall to house several of its vans, while the remaining vans in the eight-vehicle fleet are parked on the street next to City Hall. The fleet will expand to 10 later this week when two more vans are delivered.
