Coleridge man awaiting October trial in S.D.

COLERIDGE — A Coleridge man is out of jail on bond while he awaits trial in October for a sexual crime against a child.

The case against Jeff Hansen, 47, is set for trial in October in South Dakota’s Circuit Court in the Third Judicial District in Pennington County.

He posted $10,000 bond in July and has been out of jail since that time. He was given a court-appointed attorney.

Hansen was indicted in June on charges of sexual contact with a child and sexual contact without consent — one felony and one misdemeanor.

After the indictment, he was arrested and held in the Cedar County Jail until he was extradited July 10.

Hansen has previously held several different leadership positions in the Coleridge community, including former fire chief and rescue president, and chairman of the Coleridge Area Fund.
