Clifford Rudolph Filips

Hartington — Clifford Rudolph Filips, 81, Hartington, died Dec. 10, 2020, at his residence.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Dec. 17, at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with the Rev. Owen Korte officiating, with military rites by the Hartington VFW Post #5283.

Burial of his cremated remains will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Hartington.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at church. Face masks and social distancing are required Thursday at church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.

Clifford Rudolph Filips was born Sept. 21, 1939, in Fordyce, to Otto M. and Hilda (Lammers) Filips. He attended elementary school in Fordyce and graduated from Holy Trinity High School, Hartington in 1957. He then graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1961. Clifford served in the U.S. Army from March 20, 1962, until March 19, 1964. After Clifford was honorably discharged, he began working for Sears and Roebuck from 1964-1992. He then worked for AGI/Honeywell from 1994-2001.

Clifford was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was an avid Nebraska Husker fan, and Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan. He liked photography, landscaping and gardening.

Clifford is survived by his two sisters, Adele Promes, Westminister, Colo., and Rosann (Rodney) Kinkaid, Terrell, Texas; brother Richard (Aletha) Filips, Tecumseh, Mich.; and sister-in-law, Natasha Filips, Surprise, Ariz.

Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Charleen (Charles) Neely, Yvonne Garcia and Janet Beck; and brothers, Gerard Filips and Vernon Filips.
