City will help with Veterans’ Memorial

HARTINGTON — Hartington City Council members agreed Monday they would take possession of the Hartington Veterans’ Memorial — they are uncertain, however, just when that might happen.

Council members met with Dean McGregor, Bill Christensen and Dan Kathol Monday night to talk about the memorial.

McGregor is the Commander of the local VFW, while Christensen is the American Legion and AmVets Commander. Kathol has been named Chairman of the Veterans Memorial Committee.

Kathol asked the Council if the city would take possession of the land and the memorial. This would enable the facility to be rolled into the city insurance policy, which is more economical than other policies.
