Cheryl (Arens) Powell

UPLAND, Calif. - Cheryl (Arens) Powell, 64, Upland, Calif., died Nov. 25, 2020, from a massive brain hemorrhage caused by Brain AVM (arteriovenous malformation).

Cheryl was born March 2, 1956, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D., to thur and Erna (Hochstein) Arens. She was the youngest of 10 children. Cheryl always had a beautiful smile and a loving heart. She will be greatly missed by all. Cheryl loved to sew. She made Barbie Doll outfits in high school and college to help pay her way. She graduated from California State University, Northridge, Calif., with a degree in fashion design. Cheryl, through hard work, became the marketing director for Tall Girl Fashions, that had stores in malls throughout the United States.

Cheryl is survived by her husband of 41 years, Ron; their daughter, Alexandria Powell, Upland, Calif., and son, Geoffrey (Kelly) Powell, St. Petersburg, Fla.; her sisters, JoAnn Herndon, Gold Beach, Ore., and Elaine Reed, Smith River, Calif.; brothers, Merle (Jackie) Arens, El Reno, Okla.; Dale (Barbara) Arens, Simi Valley, Calif.; and Richard (Carol) Arens, Winnetka, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Erna; Grandparents, Joseph and Clara (Schulte) Arens, and Pete and Ida (Kathol) Hochstein; sisters, Yvonne and Karen; and brothers, Melvin and Alton (Tony) Arens.
