Charlotte “Jerry” Kristensen

WAUSA — Funeral services for Charlotte “Jerry” Kristensen, 90, Wausa, will be at 10:30 a.m., Sept. 10, at Thabor Lutheran Church, Wausa. Rev. Carl Sirotzki will officiate, with burial in Thabor Lutheran Cemetery, Wausa.

Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5-7 p.m., at Brockhaus Funeral Home, Wausa. Social distancing guidelines will be followed. Masks are suggested.

Jerry died Aug. 25, 2020, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D.

Charlotte Geraldine ‘Jerry” Kristensen was born May 16, 1930, near Wausa, to Walter and Lillie (Larson) Lundeen. She was the younger of two daughters. Jerry was baptized into the Christian faith Dec. 19, 1930, at Augustana Lutheran Church, Sioux City, Iowa. She was confirmed at Thabor Lutheran Church, Wausa, Sept. 30, 1945. She graduated from Wausa High School May 22, 1947, and graduated from Wayne State College May 26, 1950. Jerry briefly taught school in Coleridge and worked for Mutual of Omaha. Jerry married Magnus Kristensen Dec. 27, 1958. In 1960, Magnus and Jerry moved to a farm near Wausa. They had five children: Kristine Kay, Douglas Dean, Karen Marie, Warren Magnus and Bruce Lee.

Jerry was a member of Thabor Lutheran Church and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 159.

Jerry was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her interests included watching baseball, gardening, sewing, playing cards, bowling, crocheting, quilting, and a variety of crafts. Jerry enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and friends.

She is survived by children, Kristine and husband, Michael Ostermilller, Howell, Mich.; Douglas and wife, Julie, Wausa; Karen and husband, Monty Gerdes, Palmyra; and Bruce and wife, Jessica, Wausa; grandsons, Jeffrey and Matthew Ostermiller; Austin (Kelsey) and Colton Gerdes; and Brandon, Brady, and Brent Kristensen; great-granddaughter, Ember Gerdes; and sister-in-law, Karen Jensen; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Magnus; a son, Warren; parents, Walter and Lillie Lundeen; sister, Arlyce Olson; a niece, Cheryl Olson; sisters-in-law, Gerda Iversen, Dora Jensen and Grethe Christensen; brothers-in-law, Johannes Jensen, Edvard Iversen, Marius Jensen, Villy Christensen and Roy Olson.

Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
