Cedar steam rolls past Tekamah-Herman to stay unbeaten

Posted in:

HARTINGTON — Cedar Catholic was firing on all cylinders Friday night.

The Trojans jumped out to a quick 21-0 first-quarter lead then kept pounding away enroute to a 50-15 win over visiting Tekamah-Herman Friday night.

The Tigers were not able to find the endzone until the final minutes of the game.

Cedar punctuated a solid ground game with a quick strike aerial attack to keep the Tigers off balance all game long.

The Trojans found paydirt for the first time Friday when Tate Thoene completed a 19-yarder to Noah Arens to score just two-and-a-half minutes into the game. Blake Arens added the extra point kick to put Cedar up 7-0.

Thoene had a hand in five touchdowns on the night, throwing for three and running for two more.

Cedar’s next score came at the 5:42 mark when Thoene found a wide-open Charlie Schroeder and hit him on a 44 yard pass play. Schroeder then carried it in for the score. Arens again split the uprights for the extra point kick.

Thoene again burned the Tiger defense three minutes later. This time he connected with his brother Myles Thoene on a 61 yard TD strike. Arens’ extra point made it 21-0.

The two teams traded possessions for most of the second frame, with Cedar scoring at the 5:52 mark on a one-yard Easton Becker plunge. Arens kick then made it 28-0.

The two squads again traded possessions in the early going of the second half before Tate Thoene completed a solid drive with a one-yard dive to score yet again. Carson Arens threw to Carter Arens for the two-point conversion to make it 35-0.

Thoene found paydirt for the final time on the night with just :13 left in the third quarter. He burst thru and around the defense enroute to a 13-yard TD run.

T-H found the endzone early in the final frame when Connor Feiling got behind the defense and caught a 62-yard Brock Rogers pass to score.

At the 5:42 mark, James Christensen broke into the scoring column when he bulled across the line on a two-yard run. Chase Schroeder got his chance to kick the extra point, and made good on it, making the score 43-7.

Cedar hits the road this week, travelling to David City for a Thursday night game.
