Cedar golfers get off to a good start

STANTON — Poor weather conditions have prevented the Trojans golf team from putting in much practice, but that did not stop the team from earning its first team win of the season at a triangular in Stanton on Thursday. Matthew Schaefer led the team, posting the lowest individual score with a 37.

Schaefer was followed by freshman Riley Kuehn posting an impressive 38 in his first varsity event.

“I was real pleased with how we started the season yesterday in Stanton,” said head coach Mike Johnson. “We haven’t had a lot of opportunities to even practice, and to be able to go out and play as well as we did shows a lot about the potential we have on the team.”

The Trojans had four of the top five finishes. Behind Kuehn, Quinn Paulsen and Ted Bengston tied for fourth place with a score of 42. Jarret Cerny, Norfolk Catholic, came in third with a 41.
