Cedar golfers claim Wayne Invite

WAYNE - Cedar Catholic girls golf is hitting stride at the right time.

The Lady Trojans have won back-to-back Invitationals, and three individuals left as medalists.

Cedar Catholic won on Saturday at the Wayne Metteer Invite with a team score of a 404, 13 strokes ahead of Columbus Lakeview in second place.

Ireland Biltoft led the way for Big Red with a second place finish, shooting an 86, a career low. Three of the four of the Cedar team scores landed in the top 20. freshman Hallie Noecker followed Biltoft with a 101 for 14th place. Noecker was followed by Lauren Heine’s 18th place finish of a 104. Rebekah Kleinschmit added the final score to the Cedar team, with a 113 to place 30th. Maizie Christensen’s score was dropped from the Cedar team score, with her 41st place finish of a 121.

The Wayne Metteer Invite was Cedar’s last scheduled meet before Districts on October 1. Cedar will travel to Norfolk Country Club to compete against Ainsworth, Battle Creek, Crofton, Elkhorn Valley, LCC, Norfolk Catholic, O’Neill, Pierce, Plainview, TC, Wayne, and West Holt. The top three teams and top ten individuals at the District Tournament will qualify for the NSAA Class C State Championship.
