Cedar golf team dominates triangular

Posted in:

HARTINGTON — Cedar Catholic earned the team title at last week’s triangular here, sweeping the first five places to claim the win.

The Trojans were led by Riley Kuehn, who fired a 35 in the nine-hole event. Mack Kuehn earned runner-up honors with a 41 on the day.

Carsen Becker finished right behind him with a 42 to finish in third place.

Hartington-Newcastle Coach Ken Kneifl said his team played well. on the day.

“This was another positive step forward today. Overall we shot our best team score of the young season,” he said. “Again, this is a young, inexperienced team and today there were times we faced adversity and we are simply learning how to handle this. Anyone who plays golf will tell you that each round presents itself with various types of challenges and adversity.

Kneifl said he is happy with his squad’s work ethic.

“The kids are working hard and want to be good. Coach Johnson and myself really like this team and the trajectory it is on.”

HNS competes in Laurel this Thursday.

Cedar was slated to head to Stanton last week, but poor weather conditions forced that meet to be moved to Monday.
