Cedar County Will Be Represented at State Wrestling by Eight Wrestlers, Three Schools

OMAHA - Many wrestling seasons ended on Saturday but eight wrestlers from three different Cedar County schools advance to the state tournament in Omaha starting on Thursday.

Four Cedar Catholic wrestlers, three Randolph wrestlers, and one Laurel-Concord-Coleridge wrestler will be making the trip.

For Cedar, Ethan Koch at 145 pounds and Eric Hoesing at 182 pounds were both District Runner-ups, while Kerby Hochstein at 126 pounds and Turner Korth at 145 pounds both finished in third place.

For Randolph, Brandon Bloomquist at 152 pounds and Noah Scott at 170 pounds were both District Champions, and Alex Schmit at 145 pounds earned a District runner-up.

For LCC, Ethan Williams at 220 pounds was District Runner-up.

Cedar Catholic competes in Class C, while Randolph and LCC compete in Class D.

Brackets were also released on Saturday night.

Hochstein goes into State with a record of 35-16, and in the first round, he faces the District C2 Runner-up Martin Valencia of Logan View. Valencia is 31-10 on the year.

Korth is 39-8 on the year, and in the first round, he faces the District C4 Runner-up Garret Kluthe of Ord. Kluthe is 35-9 this season.

Koch enters the state competition with a record of 18-4. In the first round, he wrestles Hayden Hoos of Gordon-Rushville. Hoos has a record of 38-9.

Hoesing is 29-9 this season. In the first round, he wrestles Drew Sprinkle of Cambridge. Sprinkle is 34-10 this year.

Schmit is 43-7 this year. In the first round, he faces Jarrett Parsons of High Plains Community. Parsons is 18-19 on the year.

Bloomquist is 40-8 on the year, and in the first round, he wrestles Ayden Molzahn of Alma. Molzahn is 37-12 on the season.

Scott is 36-4 this season. In the first round, he faces Cash Meier of Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Meier is 19-11 this year.

Williams is 26-12 on the year. In the first round, he wrestles Luke Howitt of Maxwell. Howitt is 34-14 this season.

The State Wrestling Tournament begins on Thursday with Classes A and D starting at 9:30 A.M., running through the opening round and Quarterfinals. Classes B and C will compete in the afternoon session starting at 4:00 P.M.
