Cedar County Sharp Shooters Archery Club kicks off new season

Posted in:

HARTINGTON — Is your child interested in learning how to shoot a bow AND arrow? Join the Cedar County Sharp Shooters to learn or develop their skills through the 4-H Shooting Sports project. John Brodersen and Aaron Wiechelman are certified leaders and volunteers willing to teach youth the disciplines of archery.

The Nebraska 4-H Shooting Sports program offers opportunities for youth to learn safe bow handling skills and sound fundamentals of shooting under the guidance of knowledgeable adult volunteers. It also offers opportunities for competition where youth can exhibit their skills and abilities and compete with other 4-H members from across the state.

To learn more about how to become involved in the Cedar County Sharp Shooters, mark your calendars for an informational archery shooting sports meeting on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 5:00 pm at the Cedar County Fairgrounds. This meeting will also include a guided tour of the new trap house at the fairgrounds.

The archery program is open to youth ages 8-18 as of Jan. 1. Some equipment is provided, but if you have your own archery equipment please bring along to this meeting so the leaders can look it over.

The archery season runs from Oct. 18 through January 2021. The Open Class building at the fair grounds is now heated, and this is where practices will take place. In addition, each practice will include a special guest who will provide tips as the “Featured Archer.”

It is very beneficial for interested families to attend. However, if you are interested but unable to attend, please contact the Cedar County Extension Office at 402-254-6821, by Oct. 16.
