Cedar athletes earn All-State honors

HARTINGTON - Two Cedar Catholic seniors earn All-State recognition in volleyball, and a group of other Cedar Catholic athletes earns honorable mentions.

For the second year in a row, Maddie Wieseler and Jada Cattau are All-State volleyball players.

Wieseler earned All-State Class C2 first-team recognition by the Lincoln JournalStar, Omaha World-Herald, and PrepDig.com.

Cattau earned first-team recognition by the Lincoln paper and second team recognition by the Omaha paper as well as PrepDig.com

Cattau and Wieseler finish their time with the volleyball program not only as two-time All-State recipients but also as the only two players in school history with over 1,000 career kills. Cattau also earned over 1,000 career digs, and Wieseler earned almost 1,500 set assists in her career.

Cedar Catholic also had a handful of Honorable Mentions. Kenlee Goeden, Megan Heimes, Abby Hochstein, Brianna Miller, and Aiden Wortmann were each recognized by Lincoln and Omaha, and PrepDig.com recognized all but Goeden with honorable mentions.

For Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, Lorna Maxon was the lone Lady Bear recognized by Lincoln and Omaha.

In Class D1, Isabelle Harms is the lone Honorable Mention recipient for Hartington-Newcastle, earning the recognition from all three outlets.

Randolph’s Emma Bermel, Sophia Harder, and Carlie Nordhues were also recognized by all three outlets. 

Wausa’s Paige Nissen and Jaide Kaiser were recognized by Omaha and PrepDig.com

In Class D2, Wynot had a different group recognized by each reporting outlet. The Lincoln JournalStar gave Honorable Mentions to Whitney Hochstein, Shaelee Planer, Edyn Sudbeck, and Noelle Wieseler. The Omaha World-Herald listed Hochstein, Planer, Sudbeck, Wieseler, Karley Heimes, Katelyn Heine, and Emersyn Sudbeck with Honorable Mentions. On PrepDig.com, Hochstein, Planer, both Sudbecks, Heimes, and Heine all received Honorable Mentions.
