Buettner welcomed by L&C NRD board, staff

HARTINGTON — The Lewis and Clark NRD and board of directors welcomes Chase Buettner to the NRD staff. Chase was hired as a Resource Technician and began his duties at the NRD Feb.24.

His job duties as Resource Technician include working with producers on water quality programs in the Bazile Ground Water Management Area (BGMA), near Creighton, chemigation, program management and inspections, assisting with the implementation of information and education programs, assisting on the maintenance of watershed dams, and certification of irrigated acres.

Over the upcoming months Chase will spend time getting to know producers in the Bazile (GMA), conduct irrigation water quality sampling, and work on becoming familiar with NRD programs.

Chase joins NRD Office Manager, Marilyn Schumacher; Water Resource Coordinator, Myles Lammers; and General Manager, Annette Sudbeck at the District Office in Hartington.

Buettner is a graduate of Northeast High School in Clarksville, Tenn., and Austin Peay State University, where he obtained a bachelor of science in sustainable development and geoscience. He previously served in the Army as a combat engineer and mechanic, where he was stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky. While serving in the Army he did two combat tours in Iraq. Most recently, he had been working at UPS, helping his parents out on their farm, and doing freelance video and drone work for small businesses, local musicians and landowners.
