PIERCE — A win escaped the grasp of the Wildcats here Saturday, dropping the Hartington-Newastle boys basketball team to an 0-3 start on the season.
HNS led Pierce most of the game, but a momentum swing in the fourth quarter gave the Bluejays a late push for the 43-35 victory.
“I thought that we were the aggressor up until the last three minutes of the game,” said HNS head coach Nick Haselhorst.
The Wildcats played a tough defense that did not offer many second chances to the Pierce offense. Fouls on the HNS offensive end with just under five minutes left in the game allowed Pierce to head to the free throw line though.
