Blue Devils notch two more big wins

WYNOT — The Wynot Blue Devils used a stifling defense and big first and third quarter scoring runs to dispatch the Homer Knights on their home court Tuesday night. The Blue Devils held the Knights to single digit scoring in all four quarter as they cruised to the 65-26 win. This one was not in doubt from the start as Wynot went on 21-6 first quarter and added a 21-2 run in the third quarter.

The Blue Devils got solid performances from Dylan Heine with a game high 18 points and from Joesph Sudbeck who scored consistently in every quarter to end with 13 points. Wynot bench saw action with 10 other players entering the scorebook for the Blue Devils.

Homer was paced by Mauric Ford-Davis with eight points and Junicus Snowball’s six points. Ryan Rasmussen also hit a three-pointer for the Knights.

Mauric Ford-Davis hit a pair of three-pointers for Homer to open the game. Wynot countered with a balanced attack with five points each by Dylan Heine, Carson Wieseler and Joseph Sudbeck. Chase Schroeder worked the paint for a pair of baskets as Wynot opened the game with a 21-6 run.

Junicus Snowball, Adydon Harris, Mauric Ford-Davis and Ben Roost would all contribute buckets for the Knights in the second quarter. Kasen Koch did some heavy lifting for Wynot on the offense glass hitting for six points in close. Dylan Heine hit twice from the field as Wynot increased their lead to 34-15 at halftime.

Wynot defense dominated the third quarter holding Homer to a single field goal in the period. Meanwhile Wynot offense was clicking as they got seven more points by Dylan Heine and a basket each off the bench from Andrew Haberman, Killian Steinhaus, Korbin Guenther and Carter Hans to increase the Blue Devils lead to a commanding 55-17 after three periods.

Reserves mopped up in the final quarter for Wynot. Cooper Oligmueller drove the lane for a basket and Killian Steinhaus drained a threepointer as the Blue Devils earned the 65-26 win.

Wynot —Once the Wynot Blue Devils start hitting their threes it opens up the inside for their bigs to have success as well.

That was just the case on Friday night when Wynot hosted the Wausa Vikings. Wynot would rain in 11 three pointers in the game from eight different players resulting in a lopsided 76-34 win by the home team.

The Blue Devils would put four players in double figures led by Zack Foxhoven’s 13 points. Joseph Sudbeck and Chase Schroeder each poured in 11 points and Cooper Oligmueller came off the bench in the fourth quarter to add 10 points to the cause.

Once again everyone is contributing with 11 players getting in the scorebook.

Cashe Carlson led the visiting Vikings with 9 points, Matthew Schindler had eight points and Colton Baue hit for seven points to pace Wausa’s offense.

In the first quarter this looked to be a competitive matchup. Five different players would hit a basket for the Vikings.

Colton Baue nailed a trey while Brady Bloomquist, Matthew Schindler, Cashe Carlson and Preston Schlote all gathered baskets for Wausa. Wynot got five points from Kasen Koch as the Blue Devils trailed 11-9 early.

Wynot would up the pace in the second quarter. Seven points by Joseph Sudbeck, five points by Zack Foxhoven and Carson Wieseler along with a pair buckets in close by Kasen Koch fueled a 23-8 explosion by the Blue Devils.

Colton Baue hit a pair of field goals and Cashe Carlson also connected for 4 points but Wynot had shocked the Vikings leading 32-19 at halftime.

Wynot would keep the tempo at a high pace in the third quarter as they went on a 27-5 run to pull away.

Zack Foxhoven hit twice from down town. Chase Schroeder hit a trey and worked the inside as well for seven points.

Kotner Koch came off the bench to contribute five points and Dylan Heine’s five points all contributed to the onslaught.

Cashe Carlson hit a trey and Matthew Schindler had an offensive putback for the Vikings but they found themselves in a deep hole trailing 59-24 with one period left.

Coach Heimes would empty his bench in the final quarter.

Cooper Oligmueller had the hot hand hitting a pair of three pointers on his way to 10 points and Justin Heimes also found one from long range as Wynot went on a 17-10 run to finish the game. Matthew Schindler and Brady Bloomquist hit three pointers for Wausa but this game had been decided much earlier as Wynot earned the 76-33 win.
